Intro

Fynevue presents a selected range of railway topics and includes links to many other sites about Britain's railway heritage.
Anorak fact: Remember when the carriage wheels went 'clickety-clack' in the days of jointed sections of rail before the modern welded rails became commonplace?

This is a 'work in progress' with snippets of information being added infrequently...

Liverpool Street Line
On the Liverpool Street Line
Seen at Southend Victoria in July 1968 is this 305 class EMU (Electric Multiple Unit) number 519. Under the TOPS system, which was adopted from about 1972 onwards, this unit became 305519.

Mail by Rail
Mail by Rail
Mail by Rail encompasses not only the transportation of post by the railways, but also includes a glimpse back to the era of the TPOs (Travelling Post Offices).

70013
70013 Oliver Cromwell
Traditionally, steam engines are enjoyed by Father & Son, so here we are circa 1970, standing on Oliver Cromwell 70013 for a footplate ride at Bressingham Gardens. Since 2008, 70013 Oliver Cromwell has been restored to main line condition and when not on a tour is usually kept at the Great Central Railway, and is operated and run by the 5305 Locomotive Association.

Bluebell Railway
In March 2013, the Bluebell Railway (closed in 1958) which began as a preserved line from Sheffield Park/Horstead Keynes in the 1960s, was re-opened as far as East Grinstead, a fantastic achievement.
