The Dining Halls were part of the original buildings, though the staff accommodation to the side was greatly extended as the camp developed. The grassed area changed over the years, from putting green to children's play ground, and finally to additional car parking. Drainage was poor in this south-facing area and the sea breezes cut across on windy days!
